Cookie Policy

1 What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, remember your preferences, and provide basic security.

Cookies are not programs — they cannot run code or carry viruses. They simply hold a small amount of information that can be read back by the website that set them.

2 How we use cookies

Short version: the Monitrova app sets one essential session cookie to keep you logged in. The marketing site uses Google Analytics (page counts) and Microsoft Clarity (anonymised session replays and click heatmaps). Both run only after you accept analytics cookies. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no social-media pixels.

Three kinds of cookies are involved on our sites:

Essential cookies — required for the Monitrova app to function (e.g. keeping you logged in).
Analytics cookies — Google Analytics on the marketing site at monitrova.com, used in aggregate so we know which pages are useful.
Session-analysis cookies — Microsoft Clarity on the marketing site, which records anonymised session replays and click heatmaps so we can see where the page confuses people. Passwords, credit-card fields and other inputs marked sensitive are masked at capture time and never leave the browser. The app itself loads neither Google Analytics nor Clarity.

Under the EU ePrivacy Directive ("cookie law") essential cookies do not require consent, but analytics and session-analysis cookies do. If you prefer not to be counted or recorded, click "Essential only" on the banner — neither tool will load. You can also block third-party cookies in your browser, install the official <a href="https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on</a>, or opt out of Microsoft Clarity at <a href="https://clarity.microsoft.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">clarity.microsoft.com</a>.

3 Types of cookies used

The whm_sess cookie is set only after you log in to the app at app.monitrova.com. The _ga, _ga_*, _clck and _clsk cookies are set on the marketing site at monitrova.com only after you accept analytics cookies. None of them are set in the app itself.

4 Third-party cookies and services

We use a small number of Google and Microsoft services for analytics and product UX research on the marketing site. We do not use any advertising or social-media tracking cookies.

What we do NOT use

When you visit the billing section of the app and interact with Stripe's payment form, Stripe may set its own cookies as part of its fraud prevention and payment processing. These are set directly by Stripe on their domain and are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.

5 Managing cookies

You have full control over cookies through your browser settings. You can:

Instructions for the most common browsers:

Please note: if you block or delete the session cookie (whm_sess), you will be signed out of the Monitrova app and will need to log in again — the app cannot function without it. Blocking the analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) has no effect on functionality; you simply won't be counted in our aggregate visitor numbers.

Change your cookie preferences. Use the button below to re-open the consent banner and pick again. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.

6 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if we change how we use cookies — for example, if we switch analytics providers or add new tools. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always show the most recent version.

If we introduce any new categories of non-essential cookies (e.g. advertising or social-media tracking), we will add a cookie consent mechanism and update this policy before doing so.
