What it does

The Website Growth Check audits your homepage for the basics that affect how well it can rank and convert, and turns them into a single 0–100 score with a short list of the most impactful fixes. It checks SEO fundamentals (title, meta description, headings, canonical, robots.txt, sitemap.xml), whether the page is accidentally hidden from search engines, and whether it loads cleanly and quickly.

Use it as a fast, plain-English starting point — it surfaces the few things worth fixing first, not an overwhelming wall of warnings.

How to use it

  1. Enter your homepage address and press Check.
  2. Read your score and verdict (out of 100).
  3. Work through the top issues listed — each one shows what's wrong and why it matters. Fix the highest-impact ones first.

What the results mean

Result What it means
Looking good (80–100) The fundamentals are in good shape. Only minor refinements remain.
Room to improve (50–79) Some important basics are missing or weak. The listed fixes will make a real difference.
Needs attention (0–49) Several core issues are holding the page back. Start at the top of the list.

Errors & warnings explained

Message What it means
Backend error A server/application error (PHP, database, or framework crash) was detected on the page — the biggest possible drag on the score, and on visitors.
Hidden from search (noindex) The page tells search engines not to index it. If that's unintentional, it's the single most damaging setting for growth.
Server error (5xx) / Page not found (4xx) The homepage returned an error status rather than loading normally.
Slow response The page took ~2.5 seconds or more to respond — speed affects both ranking and conversions.
Missing title / meta description The page title or meta description is absent — both are core on-page SEO signals and the text people see in search results.
Missing or duplicate H1 No main heading, or more than one — search engines use the H1 to understand the page's topic.
No robots.txt / sitemap.xml These files help search engines crawl your site efficiently; one or both wasn't found.
Missing canonical / title too short or long / meta too short or long Smaller refinements — a missing canonical tag, or title/description lengths outside the recommended range.
That site is behind bot protection A bot-protection service blocked the audit, so the page couldn't be analysed from the outside.
We couldn't reach that website The site may be down or blocking automated checks. Confirm it loads in a browser and try again.

Good to know

  • Free, no login, no stored URLs.
  • Rate limited to about 4 checks per minute per network.
  • It audits the single page you enter (your homepage), not the whole site.
  • The score is a guide to the highest-impact basics — not a full SEO audit. A members account adds ongoing homepage audits across all your pages.
